Dear Colleagues,

The New Hampshire Association of Special Education Administrators (NHASEA) is pleased to announce the 2025 Call for Nominations for Special Education Administrator of the Year.  New Hampshire is quite fortunate to have so many innovative, professional, and talented Special Education Administrators serving as systems leaders in our varied educational communities. Their leadership, perseverance, and dedication to NH’s children, youth and families deserves to be recognized. Each year, the NHASEA pays tribute to the talent and vision of a Special Education Administrator who at the local and state level, distinguished person in being a systems leader and whose contributions have had a significant impact on NH’s educational communities. To be eligible for this award, nominees must be an active member of the NH Association of Special Education Administrators (NHASEA) and meet the criteria outlined in the Call for Nominations.

Please do consider nominating a colleague for their leadership, outstanding dedication, contributions, and commitment to the field of special education. The role of Special Education Administrator is a challenging and valued position in our educational communities. It is essential that we do not forget the importance of recognition, celebration, and support for our colleagues. Thanks in advance for spreading the word and for considering the submission of a nomination.

2024 NHASEA SPECIAL EDUCATION ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR

 

Larry Elliot - Kearsarge Regional School District, Director of Special Education Named 2024 New Hampshire Special Education Administrator of the Year

Mr. Elliott has served the Kearsarge Regional School District for over 25 years, and currently serves as the Director of Student Services. During his tenure in SAU 65, Larry has demonstrated the highest standard when it comes to being a systems leader. He plays an integral role in the educational community and exemplifies the importance of inclusive education, and a commitment to all children and youth, especially those who are exceptional learners.  In all of his leadership roles, Larry has been an advocate for public education and ensuring that those students with exceptional needs have many pathways to high quality, successful learning experiences. He is known by his colleagues as one who leads with compassion and conviction and a work ethic that is grounded in problem solving.  He is regarded and recognized by the community for developing comprehensive and varied learning opportunities, positive family connections and for being a collaborative partner with a variety of stakeholders. The educational community of the KRSD describes Larry as demonstrating the highest professional standards when it comes to leadership; he is creative, positive, and always willing to go the extra mile, no matter how big the challenge.

As an active member of the NH Association of Special Education Administrators (NHASEA), Larry has worked tirelessly with his colleagues across the region and the state to help ensure sound decision making around important issues related to special education, including legislation, professional growth opportunities and developing partnerships with varied stakeholder groups.
