Year I:

The Institute for New Special Education Administrator and Mentoring

The Institute for New Special Education Administrators is a great professional learning opportunity for leaders in the field of special education who are new to their roles. The goal of the Institute for New Special Education Administrators is to increase retention of New Hampshire’s newest special education administrators by providing them with the support and skills necessary to lead a responsive and legally compliant special education service delivery system. Because navigating the role and substantial responsibilities of Special Education Administration is an overly complex undertaking, the Institute commits to providing early career leaders with an opportunity for mentoring and coaching, peer to peer experiences, networking, collaboration, and essential leadership development. The Institute weaves four (4) strands throughout all its work:

  • Mentoring and Coaching: Each Special Education Administrator enrolled in the Institute will have a trained mentor to assist with goal setting, support, guidance, reinforcement of Institute content, making connections with the NHED, Bureau of Special Education and the NHASEA
  • Leadership Development: Strengthening administrative skills that results in improved teaching and learning for students with IEP’s.
  • Special Education Processes: Efficient operational and compliance oversight to improve outcomes for students with IEP’s and support to their families. Also included are important topics such as budgeting, grant oversight, NHSEIS, personnel requirements, Special Education Indicators and more.
  • Problems of Practice: Discussion, problem solving, networking, and sharing of resources related to the day-to-day challenges faced by new Special Education Administrators

Session Dates and Times:
